Fri, 16 November 2007 The title of this Podcast says it all really! “Walking in Memphis is what I did with my Friend Paul Salter and Rand King (one of our friends from Decatur Alabama).
We were fortunate to have the pleasure of being in Memphis and touring GraceLands, the home of Elvis in July 1998. Any Elvis fans will know that 1998 was the 20th year of the death of the King!
I have to say, that I am not a great fan of Elvis but, going to Gracelands and absorbing myself in the whole Memphis and Elvis thing was something I will never forget. A truly amazing experience.
We start with a night time walk along Beale Street, where live music; good food and great beer were the order of the day…And Rand gives us a bit of a history lesson.
Then we go neatly into the following morning with our tour of Gracelands which starts with a look at some of the many cars owned by Elvis.
Next its Gracelands itself.
…And finally, we end with a look round the Lisa Marie, which was one of Elvis’s private jets.
The snippets of the song: “Walking in Memphis is the original version by Marc Cohn and it is taken from his first and self titled album.
If you would like to give me some audio or written feedback you are more than welcome at:

Tue, 16 October 2007 004 Amstertandem 2007_10_15 London to Amsterdam Audio Diaries part 2.mp3Welcome to the last episode of the Amstertandem Podcast series.
This is the second part of my audio diaries from London to Amsterdam.
We start with a quick listen to the sounds of Amsterdam, with it’s sounds; people and bells. Along with some of my impressions (as a blind person), as to the difficulty of navigating the city, with it’s cobbled streets; tram tracks and canals (which are all too easy to fall into)!
Then we take in some of the sites of the city via a guided tour along said canals on a barge.
Next: a quick trip on a tram and a bit of Argentinean food.
We then hear about Anne Frank. If you don’t know anything about her, listen in and find out all about this amazing girl who kept a diary chronicling her life in hiding as a Jew under Nazi rule in Amsterdam during the second world war.
We end this very memorable trip with a conversation with a good humoured Dutch taxi driver and a very condensed flight back to Birmingham.
…And don’t forget that you can still donate to the Motor Neurone Disease Association; become involved in one of their challenges yourself, or, just find out more about what they do at:
…And finally, a huge thank you to all of the people we had the absolute pleasure of getting to know. You know who you all are and I sincerely hope that we will meet again in the future.
Don’t forget to look out for other Podcasts in the Vipodcasting family.

Tue, 25 September 2007 Welcome to the third Podcast in the Amstertandem series of Podcasts.
Yes, I know it has been a long time since I last posted but, events have conspired against me some what.
This is the first of two, or perhaps three parts of my London to Amsterdam audio diaries.
Listen in as we travel on the tandem with sixty other cyclists from the Mannor Hotel in Stanstead to Amsterdam by way of several ferries but, mostly, of course, on our bikes!
We had a fantastic time, as, I am sure the audio you are about to hear will reflect.
Paul Obrey (Front tandem) and I have raised somewhere in the region of ÂŁ4,500 and still counting for Motor Neurone Disease Association and the total money raised by everyone on the challenge is still to be confirmed.
If you would like to donate to the MNDA then you can do so at their website: www.mndassociation.org

Mon, 5 March 2007 Welcome to the second Amstertandem Podcast. Wed, 28 February 2007 Welcome to the first Amstertandem Podcast brought to you by Vipodcasting.
Well, this is another Podcast to add to the list but, it’s a little different to what I have been doing.
On 21st June 2007, my friend Paul Obrey and I will cycle from Stansted Airport in London to Amsterdam, to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
The ride will take three days, and will cover approximately 300km (185 miles).
The first night will be on an overnight ferry from Harwich to the Hook of Holland, and the following two nights will be spent in youth hostels along the way.
We have a sponsorship target of ÂŁ1000 each, but hope to exceed this by as much as possible.
We both have personal experience of friends and their family who have been affected by the condition, and Paul Obrey’s work brings him into contact with people who have the disease on a regular basis.
As you may know if you have listened to my Podcasts before, I am registered blind, and so we will be riding a tandem.
You will be joining us as we train for the big event and of course, we will be taking you with us on the tour itself.
We will be talking to some of our friends who have been affected by Motor Neurone Disease as well as getting to know some of the people who will be joining us on the ride.
Coming up in this first Podcast, we go to collect the tandem and embark on our first training session. You will be with us as we cycle and talk a bit about Birmingham and its history including Bourneville and the world famous Cadbury family. Most of the credit for the history lesson has to go to Paul O as he is very clever.
Now! As I mentioned, the main reason for these Podcasts are to raise money and awareness for the Motor Neurone Disease Association As well as plugging those who have very generously supported us already.
The tandem has been very kindly provided by Sprocket Cycles, in Digbeth. Birmingham.
Support has also been given by Harborne Cycle Surgery also in Birmingham.
Below, you will find all the important contact details.
